Having attended school in Texas, I try to keep an eye on events in the Lone Star State, but I missed this. Pete at A Perfectly Cromulent Blog, however, picked up on the story of Kinky Friedman announcing his intentions to run as an independent candidate for governor of Texas in 2006. Based upon the story in the Houston Chronicle, Friedman seems quite serious but observers are skeptical that Texas is ready to be governed by a bachelor, Jewish cowboy from Chicago who speaks his mind. According to Cal Jillson, professor of political science at Southern Methodist University
"Until the Republican candidate becomes clear, we can entertain ourselves with Kinky."I can't resist the temptation to mull over creative ideas for campaign slogans, but I'll spare my readers. Pete has further analysis of the Kinky Campaign 2006.
