According to the Croatian Information Center website [link won't last long], a monument to former Yugoslav communist dictator Josip Broz Tito was blown up. The life-size statue was built in 1948 in Kumrovec, Tito's hometown.
The blast inflicted serious damage to the statue; the adjacent Tito Museum also sustained damage, as well as an inn and the administrative building of the Kumrovec Ethno-Village.It's unclear who did the damage, but Goranka Horjan of the Culture Ministry said the bronze statue would be restored. People may remember Marshal Tito as the leader of Yugoslavia whose proudest achievement was an economy that produced the Yugo. Tito died in 1980.
