Fine For Putting Trash Out On Wrong Day

In their unquenchable thirst for a utopian serfdom, some communities are now levying fines for putting the garbage out on the wrong day. In Reddish, England, Angela Garfield was fined 50 British pounds (about $94) for placing her rubbish bin curbside the night before scheduled pickup. As is typical, the levying of the fine is a new policy instituted by the local government without adequately notifying the public.

Also typical is the lie told by the local officials when explaining why citizens are being fined. The purported reason is to reduce clutter in the neighborhood. Excuse me! If the desire is to remind people to follow simple instructions, a $2 or $5 fine would be more than sufficient. But no, the local politicians have imposed upwards of a $100 fine which is nothing more than a new way to suck funds out of the public. It's time to vote some incompetent leeches out of office. They don't deserve the public trust.
