(Westerville, Ohio) According to reporter Karin Hirschey, eight-year veteran Westerville Police Officer Brian Bouk pleaded not guilty to 27 misdemeanor charges resulting from allegations he supplied alcohol and pornography to teenagers. Bouk has been assigned as the police resource officer at Walnut Springs Middle School for the past three years.
According to the criminal complaint, on two separate occasions in February Bouk invited seven kids between the ages of 15 and 16 to his house in Canal Winchester. He allegedly provided beer and vodka and allowed the kids to watch X-rated videotapes, Hirschey reported.I think this is more than an isolated case of lapse in judgment. Consequently, if convicted, Bouk should be meaningfully punished - no simple hand slap. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for June 1.
"The officer was placed on administrative leave immediately," Westerville City Schools spokesman Mark Hershiser said. "He has not been in the building since we were made aware of it."
