U.S. Troops Kill Senior Taliban

(Kabul, Afghanistan) Elimination of an enemy leader is always welcome news.

Three Taliban fighters, including a top commander, have been shot and killed by US troops in Afghanistan's southern region of Uruzgan. Payenda Mohammed, commander of a group of some 150 Taliban fighters involved in a series of attacks against Afghan government troops and officials, died along with the other two insurgents in a clash last Wednesday, the US military in Afghanistan announced on Monday.
According to the governor of Uruzgan province, Jan Mohammad Khan, Payenda Mohammed was a main Taliban commander in the province who had a reputation for conducting rocket attacks, ambushes, guerrilla-style attacks and setting up illegal checkpoints.
