Maupins Release Statement

Sgt. Matt MaupinAs reported previously, soldiers of the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division have been searching an area west of Baghdad for indications of Sgt. Matt Maupin, listed as captured. Items found during the searches were analyzed and determined not to belong to Maupin.

Sgt. Maupin's parents, Keith and Carolyn Maupin, traveled to Washington to meet with Pentagon officials today. After the meeting, they released the following statement.
Today we met with Lt. Gen. James L. Campbell, the Director of the Army Staff, who provided us with a progress report on the search for our son, Sgt. Matt Maupin.

The information we received was helpful and it showed the Army is actively following up leads concerning his whereabouts.

We will not discuss the specifics of the update because it is an ongoing operation and saying anything could be detrimental to Matt's safe return and the safety of those involved in the search.

It has been more than 18 months since he was captured and we pray every day for him and the soldiers who continue to search for him.

We ask the American people to do the same.
Amen.
