Border Fence Called Shameful, Stupid, Underhanded

Since the U.S. House of Representatives approved a plan to build 700 miles of fence along the southern border, the Mexicans are spitting fire. Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Ernesto Derbez said the fence is underhanded, stupid, and silliness. However, while posturing akimbo, Derbez is not worried.
Derbez said he was confident the bill would not make it past the U.S. Senate, which he said was not as easily swayed by ever-changing political opinion as the House.

"The great battle will be in the Senate of the United States where people are more reasonable," he said.
Oh, really? There will be a battle but I'm not so sure it will be reasonable.

Even so, Derbez believes that Mexico's image needs to be improved so a public relations firm has been retained to promote a positive message about Mexico. Interestingly, at the same time he's calling the U.S. "stupid," he sees the need to hire a PR firm. One has to wonder if he's capable of seeing the contradiction.

Also joining in with sharp criticism, President Vincente Fox said the fence is shameful and hypocritical. Fox doesn't see the need for a fence to protect the U.S. border. Instead, he has "called for an immigration agreement with Washington granting some form of legal status to Mexicans who sneak into U.S. territory." Frankly, I think Fox needs to familiarize himself with U.S. law. Foreign nationals who sneak into the U.S. do have legal status. They're called criminal trespassers. (Source)
