Sentences Reduced for Drug Lords

(Mexico City) A federal tribunal in Mexico City reduced the sentences for two drug cartel leaders given to them by a Jalisco state judge. The two men, brothers Jose de Jesus and Adan Amezcua who are both wanted by U.S. authorities, appealed the state ruling to the tribunal. Jose had his sentence reduced from 53 years, 9 months, to 28 years. Adan's sentence was reduced from 22 years to 9 years, 6 months.

My guess is that, with a couple more rounds of appeals, the brothers will be back trafficking drugs before Easter. The practice of purchasing clemency is pervasive in Mexico and surely the Amezcua brothers have sufficient disposable cash.
