Teacher Gets Year for Sex with Boy
(Leeds, Alabama) A 27-year-old former English teacher at Leeds High School, Emily Morris, was sentenced to a year in prison for second-degree rape of a 15-year-old male student. In accordance with a plea agreement, Morris pleaded guilty to the rape charge and prosecutors dropped a second charge of second-degree rape and a charge of second-degree sodomy.
Circuit Court Judge Jim Hill sentenced Morris to four years probation in addition to one year in prison. She could have been sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison on the rape charge. However, St. Clair County District Attorney Lamar Williamson was apparently satisfied with the plea bargain since Morris will spend "some time" behind bars.
I wouldn't say that Morris had the book thrown at her, maybe the pamphlet, but not the book.
