Teacher Resigns After Sex Allegations

(Ayersville, Ohio) A 29-year-old English teacher at Ayersville High School, Nicole Long, resigned her position after allegations became public that she engaged in sex with a 17-year-old student. Long is married and seven months pregnant. Nonetheless, the sheriff's department is investigating and Long could be charged with felony sexual battery for the alleged sex with the boy.

A grand jury is scheduled to review Long's case on January 18.

Nicole Long pleaded guilty today to sexual battery. In accordance with a plea agreement, prosecutors recommend probation, a 'short' jail sentence, and loss of teaching credentials. Long is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Joseph Schmenk on March 13.
