Indonesia Extradites Terrorist to Singapore

Mas Selamat Kastari(Singapore) Announced by Indonesian authorities today, most-wanted Muslim terrorist, Mas Selamat Kastari, was arrested and extradited to Singapore. Kastari is recognized as the leader of the Singaporean arm of al-Qaeda linked Jemaah Islamiah (JI).

From ISN Security Watch:
Singapore accuses Kastari of plotting to crash a hijacked plane into Changi International Airport in 2001. That attack was never carried out.

Kastari has reportedly been on the run from the authorities in Singapore since 2001, when a JI plot to crash seven truck bombs at various locations around the island five years ago was allegedly uncovered. The authorities say Kastari is believed to be mastermind of the attacks.
Mas Selamat's arrest and deportation to Singapore is a significant step forward in anti-terror cooperation between intelligence services in Southeast Asia.

No doubt about it, Kastari is a homicidal fanatic. Let's hope that Singapore is considerably less tolerant of Muslim extremism than Indonesia.
