Three Jailed in Child Abuse, Grandma Sex Case

(Garden City, Georgia) Here's a bizarre case of child cruelty and adults having sex in front of children.

A 22-year-old man, Lenton Stephen Heath, had sex with his girlfriend's mother in front of his child (her grandchild) and was arrested for child molestation, child abuse and cruelty to children. The girlfriend's mother, 49-year-old Gloria Patterson, was arrested for beating and burning her grandchildren after police found the kids physically abused. The mother of the children and Heath's girlfriend, 22-year-old Monique Waples, was also arrested for severe child abuse. (Note: Monique Waples is also identified as Talicia Waples.)

Police responded to a complaint of noise at the Masters Inn Hotel off Highway 21 outside Savannah. Officers found Waples, her mother, and four children living in the hotel room and evidence indicated that a 6-year-old girl and an 18-month-old boy had been severely beaten. Heath was not present, but was arrested later after the whole story of the situation became known.

In addition to child abuse and molestation charges, Heath, Waples, and Patterson are being investigated for possible welfare fraud since all were collecting state or federal benefits for the children.

This story caught my eye because of two aspects. First is the reported ugly crimes against the children. For the crimes, the culprits should be punished vigorously by the law. And secondly, the nature of the 'family' relationship was that Heath was effectively having sex with his mother-in-law, Gloria Patterson. Now, it seems to me that he has the perfect defense for his actions. He's obviously insane.
