Gene Pitney 1941 - 2006
(Cardiff, Wales) Songwriter, musician, and singer Gene Pitney was found dead in his hotel room yesterday following a concert. It's believed he died of natural causes. He was 65.
During a long career as a songwriter and performer, Pitney collaborated with many of the greats from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. In later years, he performed on successful concert tours. Pitney is likely best known for his hot singles "Town Without Pity" and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." Getting well-deserved recognition, Pitney was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
Condolences to his family.
