Scotland Yard Launches Anti-Terror Raid
(London, England) A reported 250 officers launched a pre-dawn raid on the east London home of a Pakistani family suspected of being a bomb factory. Local authorities were notified prior to the raid by the Scotland Yard anti-terror branch acting in coordination with MI5 and the Health Protection Agency. No details have been disclosed about what was found during the raid.
The house was occupied by a man and wife and their three teenaged children. One man was shot and another was arrested during the raid which included dozens of officers in protective clothing conducting a search of the premises.
The raid was prompted by intelligence of a suspected plot against a UK target rather than abroad. It is not believed that the family is linked to the July 7th London tube bombings.
