Teacher Michelle Kush Sentenced for Rape, Sodomy

(Boone County, Kentucky) In September 2005, 29-year-old teacher at Boone County High School, Michelle Kush, was arrested and charged with two counts of rape and one count of sodomy for engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy on multiple occasions. After Kush was arrested, her husband filed for divorce.

In June 2006, the now 30-year-old divorced mother of two pleaded guilty to two counts of statutory rape, a count of statutory sodomy, and four counts of unlawful transaction with a minor. Kush admitted that she engaged in sex with the boy on at least three occasions and also provided him and his friends with alcohol.

Today, Boone Circuit Judge Tony Frohlich sentenced Kush to 60 days in jail, 30 days on house arrest and five years probation. The judge also ordered her to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

Sixty days in jail for rape and sodomy convictions seems fairly lenient. I guess the court was sympathetic.
