Teacher Sharon Rutherford Indicted for Sex, Murder Plot Charges

(Mobile, Alabama) Last April, 30-year-old mother of two and English teacher at Coffeeville High School, Sharon Linton Rutherford, was arrested and charged with sex crimes against students and plotting to murder her husband.

This week, Rutherford was indicted.

A former Clarke County schoolteacher has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of soliciting two boys for immoral purposes and for recruiting one of the students to kill her husband.

Sheriff officials say Sharon Linton Rutherford, 31, had sex with two students who were younger than 16 and tried to persuade one of them to join in the murder plot. Rutherford's attorney said she has denied all allegations.

James Rutherford, Sharon's husband, filed for divorce in May.
