Divorcee Accused of Raping Boy

(Jacksonville, North Carolina) A 35-year-old divorced woman, Mary Kathryn Strain, has been arrested for allegedly having engaged in sex with a teenage boy. Strain was booked on two counts of statutory rape, two counts of statutory sex offense and two counts of indecent liberties with a child.

According to Jacksonville Police Detective Harry Evans, Strain allegedly began the relationship in 2004. She became infatuated and pursued him and, at some point, the boy, now 16, broke off the relationship. Strain's obsession with him was troublesome so he told his mother and she alerted the police.

Strain is in the Onslow County jail on $50,000 bond.
