Women's Shelters in Turkey

From Zaman.com:
The Ministry for Women and Family has decided to open three new women's shelters in southeastern Turkey, where abuse is prevalent, and two in other parts of the country.

The total number of shelters in Turkey will increase from 17 to 22.
The government is trying to do something to address the abuse of women and frequent "honor killings." Frankly, I think they should also be more aggressive from a law enforcement perspective.

Nonetheless, Turkish authorities are attacking centuries-old customs and traditions which is more than some other nations are doing.
