(Indianapolis, Indiana) In July 2006, a 31-year-old behavioral counselor at the Sanders School for special needs children, Becci Hill, was arrested for sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old autistic boy.
Police caught Hill and the boy steaming up the windows of her car at about 3:30 AM along a rural road. Reportedly, they both were nude and engaging in sex when the officers approached the car. Hill faced charges of sexual misconduct and child solicitation.
Yesterday, in Marion Superior Court, Hill, now 32, pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct with a minor and was sentenced by Judge Robert Altice to two years in prison.
The Martinsville counselor had worked for four years at Sanders School, a special-needs school the boy attended. What started as a mentor relationship turned into a sexual liaison that lasted one year, said Maureen Devlin, chief of the Marion County prosecutor's sex crimes division. The judge also ordered Hill to register as a sex offender and serve three years probation. With time off for good behavior, it's expected that she'll only spend a year in prison.
Hill often parked down the street from the boy's home, Devlin said, and "he climbed out the window to come meet her in the middle of the night." Hill was charged for activity including touching and fondling, but Devlin said the relationship had escalated farther than that at other times.
Therefore, it appears that Hill will spend only one year incarcerated for having a year-long sexual relationship with an autistic boy. A guy would have received ten times as much.
