Woman Gets 12 Years for Sex Crimes

(Pascagoula, Mississippi) A 25-year-old woman, Rebecca Leighann King, pleaded guilty on January 10th to sexual battery and fondling of a 4-year-old girl. Yesterday, King was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the crimes.

According to Assistant District Attorney Angel Myers, the child was possibly tortured during the sexual molestation and, therefore, a meaningful prison term was warranted. The parents of the girl stated in court that their daughter had been "forever changed" both "emotionally and physically."

King was also sentenced to post-release supervision for eight years, a $3,000 fine and ordered to register as a sex offender.
