Student Teacher Jailed on Sex Charge

(Gilbert, Arizona) A 38-year-old student teacher at South Valley Junior High School, Jeri Deanne Perez, was arrested Tuesday for engaging in sex with a 14-year-old boy. Perez attends Ottawa University and works part-time at the junior high.

The alleged sex between Perez and the boy occurred on six occasions in November and December 2006 at her home. Perez faces six counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

Gilbert Police booked Perez into custody. Bond was set at $100,000.
