(Brooklyn, New York) Thirty-two-year-old speech therapy teacher at George Gershwin Junior High School, Marcia Amsterdam, pleaded guilty yesterday to raping a 13-year-old male student of hers. As a result, Amsterdam was sentenced by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Martin Murphy to 10 years of probation.
Amsterdam admitted to oral and vaginal sex with the boy in 2006 when she picked him up at his home and drove to a location, undressed and had sex. The 13-year-old victim cooperated with the authorities.
In addition to probation, Amsterdam was ordered to register as a sex offender.

(New York City) A 30-year-old teacher at Junior High School 166 in Brooklyn, Marcia Amsterdam, was arrested earlier today for raping a 13-year-old boy who attended her school.
Amsterdam faces charges of second-degree rape, second-degree sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. The Department of Education has reassigned Amsterdam to administrative duties.
