School Bookkeeper Steals $4,500 from Fund

(Cobb County, Georgia) A bookkeeper at Tapp Middle School, Darleen Gable, was arrested last week for allegedly stealing $4,500 from a student fund. Gable said she was having financial troubles and took the money to pay bills.

The money was collected through fundraising by the school's Critter Club which concentrates on education about animals. Club members planned a field trip that had to be canceled due to the theft.

The Cobb County School Board fired Gable. She was booked and released on $2,000 bond.
