Teacher Gets Jail for Sex with Boy

(Erie, Pennsylvania) In January 2007, a 32-year-old English teacher at Northwestern High School, Robin Lee Hecker, was arrested and charged with corruption of minors for engaging in sex with a 16-year-old male student.

According to police, Hecker had sex with the boy at her home between June and August 2005.

Last month, Robin Lee Hecker pleaded guilty to one count of corruption of a minor in accordance with a plea deal. She admitted to engaging in at least five sexual episodes with a 10th-grade, 16-year-old male student in her class.

Yesterday, Hecker was sentenced by Judge Shad Connelly to six months to one year in county lockup. She was also ordered to undergo sex offender treatment and surrender her teaching license. Hecker will be allowed to leave incarceration for work.

In court, Hecker apologized to the victim and his family.

This case is interesting since it was prosecuted in Pennsylvania but the sexual episodes actually occurred at Hecker's home in Conneaut Township, Ohio. Apparently, it's not a crime in Ohio to have sex with a 16-year-old, however, it is a federal crime to cross state lines with a minor for immoral purposes. Somehow, I suspect that if Hecker were a 32-year-old male taking a 16-year-old girl across the state line, the feds would be prosecuting. In any event, Hecker got leniency by the court.
