Woman Accused of Sex with Boy, 14

(Hernando, Mississippi) A 39-year-old mother and court reporter, Melissa Mitchell, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with a 14-year-old boy. The victim's family stated that the sexual episode occurred at a teen party at Mitchell's house.

According to the DeSoto County Sheriff's office, Mitchell knew how old the boy was since she has a child the same age.

Mitchell was booked into custody and released on $10,000 bond.

Added mugshot. According to District Attorney John Champion, unless a plea agreement is reached, the Mitchell case will likely go to the DeSoto County grand jury in July.
