Grandma Accused of Child Sex Assault

(Grand Junction, Colorado) In March 2007, a 49-year-old grandmother, Debra Slaughenhaupt, was arrested for investigation of multiple counts of sexual assault, sexual exploitation of a child and child abuse. Two children under 15 were removed from Slaughenhaupt's filthy home.

From Denver Channel:
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office was notified of the situation by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents about an Internet child pornography case out of Toronto, Canada, with ties to the small town near Grand Junction, Colo.

Investigators reviewed 62 pages of Internet chat text sent between April 29, 2006, and Dec. 1, 2006, in which the Canadian man asked Slaughenhaupt to have the children, ages 9 and 3, perform sexual acts on her and send the images via a Web camera, according to the affidavit.
Slaughenhaupt was booked into custody on $100,000 bond.

In the latest development, from GJSentinel.com:
During a brief court hearing Tuesday, Public Defender John Burkey said Debra Slaughenhaupt, 49, is prepared to accept a plea agreement from prosecutors and asked District Judge Richard Gurley to set a plea hearing.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Tammy Eret declined to discuss the details of the agreement but said Slaughenhaupt will plead guilty to two felony charges. The agreement contains no sentencing provisions, meaning Gurley could sentence Slaughenhaupt to anything from probation to prison.
Slaughenhaupt faces 11 felony counts. She remains in the Mesa County Jail.

[Update 10/02/07]

Slaughenhaupt sentenced.
