Teacher Marcy Mote Guilty of Indecency with Girl

(Coffeyville, Kansas) Last March, a 37-year-old teacher at Tyro Community Christian School, Marsha (Marcy) J. Mote, was arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with one of her students, a 14-year-old girl. Mote was charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child. She was booked and released on $20,000 bond.

On June 20th, Mote was arrested for violation of her bond conditions that required her to remain away from minors. She had been reported by a private citizen to be in the presence of minors at the Coffeyville Aquatic Center. She was freed (again?) on $20,000 bond.

Yesterday in Montgomery County District Court, Mote pleaded no contest before Judge Roger Gossard to the charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Sentencing before District Judge Russell D. Canaday is scheduled for September 13th.

Guidelines for sentencing specify 50 months to more than 25 years in prison.
