(Garland County, Arkansas) A 41-year-old Bryant, Arkansas, man, Jeffrey Dean Cheshier, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Cheshier was scheduled to go on trial in September for the molestation of a 13-year-old girl.
Was it guilt that made him do it? Shame? Or, maybe he had money problems and was bipolar. That's it! He must have been mentally ill.
Frankly, I don't give a rat's rear what his reason was. Call me cold and heartless, but also realize that it's not unusual for accused child molesters to off themselves. They know that there is no escape from the abyss they entered.
My sympathies always rest with the victims.

As of July 22, 2007 Angela Michael has seen fit to announce on her website http://www.smallvictories.com/ and via a press release to various media outlets, the fact that our Son, Brother, Father, Uncle & Cousin, Jeffrey Dean Cheshier from Newport Arkansas was found dead in his vehicle on July 17, 2007 an apparent victim of suicide.
This story has since been retracted by The Arkansas Register where it was first incorrectly reported.
Contrary to what Ms. Michaels reports, she had no right or authorization to release this information.
Some of the information she has released was incorrect or downright false and defamatory. Some, of the information was never intended to be released to the public, may in fact compromise the investigation that is ongoing, and will cause her sources to be investigated.
Further release of this information by Angela Michael may result in legal action against her and her sources.
We therefore ask that you refrain from reporting or publishing any further information regarding our Son, Brother, Father, Uncle & Cousin that has not been released directly by our family or the governmental authorities involved.
Please respect the privacy of the family and the victim in this matter.
