Teacher Stephanie Ann Stein Gets Prison - Updated, Bumped

(Canton Township, Michigan) A 31-year-old former teacher at Plymouth Christian Academy, Stephanie Ann Stein, was arrested today for allegedly engaging in sex with a 15-year-old male student.

The alleged abuse is believed to have occurred over the summer, and came to light after the boy's mother returned home on several occasions to discover the teacher at her house, according to Canton Township Police Det. Sgt. Rick Pomorski.

"Mom had come home sometimes unannounced, and seen her leaving the house," Pomorski said, adding that Stein was arrested this morning when she arrived at the Canton Township Police Station to be interviewed about the allegations.

Stein faces two counts of criminal sexual conduct, one count of using the Internet to communicate with a minor to commit a crime, and one count of distributing obscene material of a sexual nature to a minor.

Judge Michael Gerou set bond at $50,000. Stein has a court date scheduled for September 28th.

Yesterday, Stephanie Ann Stein, now 32, was convicted by a jury on two counts of third-degree sexual assault, one count of using the Internet to communicate with a minor to commit a crime, and one count of distributing obscene material of a sexual nature to a minor.

Stein is scheduled to be sentenced on July 2.

Former Plymouth Christian Academy teacher and mother of two Stephanie Ann Stein, 32, was sentenced yesterday to three to 15 years in state prison for engaging in sex with a student.
