(Wakulla, Florida) In February 2006, a 36-year-old exceptional education teacher at Wakulla High School, Elaine Turner, was arrested by Wakulla County Sheriff's deputies and charged with four counts of sexually assaulting a student. Turner allegedly had sexual relations with the boy on four occasions. She was released after posting $10,000 bail.
In the latest development, Turner, now 37, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a minor and aggravated battery in accordance with a plea deal. As a result,
Elaine Turner, 37, was sentenced to 30 days in the Wakulla County Jail for the sexual activity charge, as well as 30 days probation, according to the Wakulla County clerk of court's records.In a related case from the same school,
For the aggravated battery charge, she was placed on 10 years probation and will be required to either spend 150 days at the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office work camp or 150 days at the Wakulla County Jail.
Qunikiya Thomas, 24, was also accused in February 2006 of having sex with a student. She admitted her guilt prior to her court hearing and was sentenced on Feb. 15 to five months of community control, followed by 48 months of sex-offender probation.Neither Turner nor Thomas still works at Wakulla High School. It's not known whether either must register as a sex offender nor if teaching credentials were revoked.
