WV Mom Accused of Felony Child Neglect

(Moundsville, West Virginia) A 23-year-old Sistersville mother, Stephanie Louise Ours, was arrested Saturday for child neglect after her 3-year-old daughter was found wandering around a busy and dark Moundsville parking lot.

According to an arrest report, deputies were called to the Dollar General Store, 309 Lafayette Ave., Saturday after a customer told an employee a little girl was walking around the lot unsupervised.

Responding deputies found Ours shopping in the store. She told them she did leave the girl in the car by herself while she shopped, but only because the girl was eating at the time.

Deputies noted Ours' eyes were red and glassy, so they asked to search her vehicle. There they found a pill case and cut straws with a white substance inside the woman's purse.

Ours was arrested and subsequently charged with felony gross neglect of a child. She was booked into custody at the North Regional Jail with bond set at $6,500. The child is with her grandmother.
