Teacher Accused of Smuggling Drugs

(Miami, Florida) A 34-year-old adult education teacher at Metro-West Correctional Facility in Doral, Ka Alease McCrary, was arrested last week for allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband and drugs into the Miami-Dade Jail.

According to Miami-Dade Police Detective Mario Rachid, a tipster led to an investigation of McCrary and an undercover sting.

An undercover officer worked deals with McCrary on two occasions to smuggle items into the jail. In the first instance, McCrary was to sneak two contraband iPods inside. On the second, 56 grams of marijuana and 56 grams of cocaine were involved.

Ka Alease McCrary is charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of marijuana, unlawful compensation and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility.

McCrary was booked into custody at the Turner-Guilford-Knight Correctional Facility.
