(Brandon, Florida) A 42-year-old local woman, Annette Smith, got into a catfight with her sister and waved a Samurai sword around before introducing a four-inch cut in her sister's gut.
Smith was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
The arrest affidavit states the sister tried to grab the sword, and was cut on her left fingers and hand. She has a severed tendon in her middle finger that will require surgery.Smith was booked into custody at the Orient Road Jail without bail.
Looking at this incident from a rational perspective, one might say that it was an accident that occurred merely because two people were acting dumb.
However, a more liberally-minded individual might conclude that the incident demonstrates a need for a sword registration law and a government-funded catfight counseling and prevention program.
