Legal Guardian Woman and Her Boy Sex Case
[Previous 2/29/08 entry]

(Cincinnati, Ohio) A 40-year-old local woman, Amy Farrell, has been accused of sexual battery for allegedly engaging in sex with a boy beginning at the age of 13.

According to the police, Farrell is the legal guardian of the boy and the sexual relationship lasted for more than a year.
The boy left his broken home, moving in with Farrell because he had nowhere else to stay.

Farrell became the boy's legal guardian, and then police say she began abusing him over a period of two years.

"In the defense of children's services, she's a very manipulative person," said Sergeant Eric Franz, Cincinnati Police. "She obviously conned her best friend into letting this young man stay with her. There was nothing on the surface that would have thrown a red flag."

Farrell has a history on Palos Street. She was arrested last year for allowing kids she was supposed to be watching to leap off the garage and into a swimming pool.

A neighbor thought it was dangerous and videotaped it.

Police began investigating sex abuse allegations after a neighbor reportedly saw Farrell and the teen having sex in that pool.
Farrell was booked into custody with bond set at $25,000.

Does it get more immoral and criminal?

[Update 6/26/08]

In accordance with a plea agreement, Farrell pleaded guilty today to three counts of unauthorized sexual conduct with a minor in return for seven related charges being dropped.

Subsequently, Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Charles Kubicki Jr. sentenced Farrell to three years in prison to be followed by five years' supervised probation.
Farrell admitted having sex with the boy -- who was 24½ years younger than her -- while her husband and children were in the West Price Hill home they all shared. She filed for legal custody of the child in January 2007, five months after she started having sex with him.

“You are sick, twisted and disgusting,” the judge told Farrell today. “You’re not fit to be around children. Your contact with the victim has had a devastating impact on him.”

The boy, who now lives out of state, has attempted suicide since Farrell’s arrest.
Judge Kubicki also ordered sex offender treatment, counseling and a prohibition on drugs and porn. She was also ordered to stay away from her victim, his family and places where children congregate.
