(Muncie, Indiana) A 20-year-old local mother, Janelle McComas, led Muncie police Officer Larry Robbins on a chase while she had her 18-month-old daughter in the car.
Police said the driver of that car, Janelle McComas (pictured), 20, sped up from 40 to 55 mph, prompting Robbins to turn on his lights and siren. After stopping, McComas was arrested. According to Sgt. Cook, it appeared that McComas was more concerned about disposing the marijuana than the safety of her daughter. The child was subsequently placed with Child Protective Services.
"He went to stop her and she drove on another five, six blocks before she actually stopped," said Muncie police Sgt. Linda Cook. "When she stopped ... she threw a bag of what later tested to be marijuana out the passenger window."
McComas faces charges of child neglect, drug possession and reckless driving. She was booked into custody at the Delaware County Jail with bond set at $20,000.
