Texas Teacher Indicted in Sex Case
[Previous 3/22/08 post]
(Frisco, Texas) In November 2006, a 29-year-old teacher's aide at Staley Middle School, Nancy Torres, was arrested for allegedly engaging in a months-long sexual relationship with a 14-year-old male student.

The boy's mother alerted authorities to the relationship which occurred in Frisco, The Colony, Lewisville and Houston.
Torres was arrested and charged with two second-degree felonies in November 2006, but the indictment did not happen until last week because the victim’s family moved out of state and lost contact with the Frisco Police Department.

"The family of the victim moved away and we didn’t have a way to contact them," Frisco Police Sgt. Gerald Meadors said. "We had to wait for them to contact us."

Meadors said that the case is able to move forward now that the department has reconnected with the victim’s family.

Torres is scheduled to make her first appearance in court on April 1. According to an affidavit, Torres and the victim had allegedly been involved in a relationship that included oral sex and intercourse between May and November 2006. None of the incidents occurred on school property or during school events.
If convicted, Torres faces a possible 20 years in prison on each charge.
