(Moorestown, New Jersey) A 38-year-old Moorestown Police Officer, Robert Melia Jr., was accused yesterday of animal cruelty for allegedly engaging in sex with cows. Melia was already in jail after being arrested earlier this month and charged for sexually assaulting three girls.
Melia's former girlfriend, Heather Lewis, 32, is also in jail on charges related to sexually assaulting the same three girls between 2003 and 2006.
The animal cruelty charges resulted after police raided Melia's home and seized his computer. Evidence collected indicated that Melia had been amorous on four occasions with cows. Consequently, four counts of animal cruelty were lodged.
Melia is in custody at the Burlington County Jail with bail set at $510,000. Heather Lewis is in custody at the Women's Detention Center in Pemberton with bail set at $300,000.
