(Guadalupe County, Texas) A 46-year-old fourth-grade teacher at Navarro Intermediate School, Tanya Boyd, was arrested this week after deputies found marijuana and a loaded handgun in her car parked in the school parking lot.
Boyd was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a weapon in a prohibited place.
Guadalupe County Sheriff Arnold Zwicke said an anonymous caller gave a tip Monday that there was marijuana in a car in the Navarro Intermediate School parking lot.Boyd was booked into custody at the Guadalupe County Jail and later released on $10,000 bond.
Deputy Rudy Guarnero used his drug-sniffing dog to search the area at about 11 a.m. and the dog gave an alert near Boyd’s car."
"The teacher, Tanya Boyd, met with Deputy Guarnero and consented to a search of the car," he said. “He found a marijuana cigarette, several roaches and combination marijuana cigarettes. During the search, the deputy also found a loaded handgun."
The school system placed Boyd on paid administrative leave.
