(Decatur, Alabama) Last month, a jury found elementary school teacher Jessica Heather Defoor guilty of enticing a child and sex abuse. Earlier today, Defoor appeared in court for sentencing.
Attorney General Troy King announced Tuesday that Jessica Heather Defoor will serve two years in prison for the class C felony of enticing a child for sexual purposes. She will be subject to serving the remaining four years of her sentence in prison if she violates the terms of 5-years of supervised probation.Defoor's attorney said an appeal is planned.
She was also sentenced to serve 12 months for the class A misdemeanor of second-degree sexual abuse, to be served concurrently.

(Decatur, Alabama) Now 35, teacher Jessica Heather Defoor has been indicted for alleged sex crimes against a female student, 12 to 16 years old.
A Morgan County grand jury returned a two-count indictment on Defoor last month.Defoor was re-arrested this morning on the charges. No information has been reported regarding bail or future court appearances.
The first count charges that Defoor enticed a child under age 16 with lascivious intent to propose an act of sexual intercourse, sodomy or other sexual acts, in violation of Code of Alabama Section 13A-6-69.
The second count charges that Defoor committed second-degree sexual abuse by subjecting a child aged less than 16 years old and older than 12 to sexual contact, in violation of Section 13A-6-67.
If convicted of the charges, Defoor faces a possible 10 years in prison for enticement and one year for sexual abuse.

(Decatur, Alabama) A 34-year-old second-grade teacher at Danville-Neel Elementary School, Jessica Heather Defoor, was arrested Monday for allegedly engaging in inappropriate contact with a female student.
Defoor faces a charge of second-degree sexual abuse.
Decatur police spokesman Lt. Jonathan Green said Defoor, a 2nd grade teacher at Danville-Neel Elementary, was accused of having inappropriate contact with a female student in February 2006. He said the alleged incident wasn't reported by the victim and her mother until late 2007.Defoor was booked into custody at the Morgan County Jail and later released on $500 bond. She has been placed on administrative leave (with pay) by the school system.
