When Social Security Isn't Enough

(Lexington, Kentucky) A 72-year-old woman, Mary Elizabeth Clay, was arrested late Tuesday for allegedly promoting prostitution and for undisclosed drug charges. Nearby, five other people were also arrested.

Clay was arraigned Wednesday morning.

Police say Clay allowed "special room" to be used for sex, then prostitutes paid her half of their $20 fee. Neighbors say there is no way Clay knew what was happening in that room.

"Miss Mary's the sweetest woman you ever want to know," said neighbor Tyrya Shepherd. "She helps everybody and the charges they got on her are wrong. She needs to come home. She's sick, but she's a loving woman."

Clay has a court date scheduled for next week.
