Pest Summit 2008 - Insects Cause Climate Change

(Bangkok, Thailand) With more than 100 entrants at this year's Pest Summit, the King Cockroach title was awarded to a winged American cockroach from Kuala Lumpur.

The winning roach is 4.2 centimeters long. The title of Queen Termite was awarded to a 7.2-centimeter-long specimen dug up at a Thai military camp. Winning bug owners each received about $300.

More than 600 bug lovers from Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand attended the summit to discuss pest control and trumpet the message that insects cause climate change.
