Fart Leads to Battery Charge
(Charleston, West Virginia) A 34-year-old local man, Jose Antonio Cruz, was arrested Monday night in South Charleston for allegedly driving under the influence and battery on a police officer.
Cruz was initially stopped for driving with his headlights off. After failing a sobriety test, Cruz was arrested.
As Cruz was being booked and fingerprinted, he leaned toward the booking officer, aimed his exhaust pipe and, likely grinning drunkenly, let loose with a regal rectal ripper that blasted the officer right in the face. As a consequence, Cruz was additionally charged with battery on a police officer.
According to the criminal complaint, investigation determined that the gaseous effluent from Cruz had a "very strong" odor.
Cruz was booked into custody at the South Central Regional Jail.
