Michigan Woman Gets Jail in Sex Case

(Muskegon, Michigan) In May 2008, a 29-year-old local woman, Anna Marie Glass, was arrested and charged with engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy.

Last month, Glass pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person between the ages of 13 and 15. Yesterday, Glass was sentenced by Muskegon County Circuit Judge Timothy G. Hicks to one year in the Muskegon County Jail. The sentence was the very least punishment that Glass could have received according to state sentencing guidelines.

Glass did not speak during the proceeding.
Hicks acknowledged receiving many letters from supporters of Glass, attesting to her lack of a criminal record, her otherwise good character, her condition of bipolar disorder diagnosed last year, and the fact that the sexual contact was consensual and that the boy was physically much larger than Glass.

But, Hicks said, "this was not a Romeo and Juliet case (of two teenagers in love). You were almost twice his age, and you knew him a long time."
It's not known if Glass will be ordered to register as a sex offender.

Interestingly, we have another bipolar disorder excuse from a female sex offender to go along with the dozens of others documented on this site. Strangely, I've not seen the excuse generally used by male sex offenders.
