TV Producer Found Dead, Toddler Clinging
(New York City) Former CNN producer Julie Horner Lankamp was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on Tuesday with her crying, two-year-old daughter Shaine clinging to her legs.
Lankamp's remains were found decomposing. She had a broken jaw, bruising and bleeding from her nose and mouth. The medical examiner preliminarily stated that the injuries were not caused by a beating.
Sources said the death may have been accidental, caused by a fall or a drug overdose. Lankamp took a variety of prescription medication and evidence of cocaine was found near her corpse.
The last known contact with Lankamp was on Sunday. Police are looking for her husband who last year was arrested for assaulting her with a chair.
Lankamp was a producer for CNN from 1995 to 1998. She graduated from California State University - Northridge in 1993 with a BA in Journalism.
