Fannie/Freddie Bailout Increases Health Care Costs
Thanks, Congress. You pass of a $700 billion bill to bailout the nation from a financial crisis and now we learn that buried inside the legislation is a provision to jack up every American's health care premiums.
The tag-along requirement reportedly eliminates "insurance discrimination" by health insurers. I'm not totally up to speed on the subject but it appears that mental health issues must now be treat comparably to actual physical biological conditions with regard to coverage.
Frankly, while I'm skeptical about the need, I'm really irked about the fact that the requirement was hidden in an "emergency" bailout bill. And, I know that Congress does it all the time but that doesn't make me feel any better. When it comes to Congress, I'm usually pissed at the whole lot.
