(Fort Meade, Maryland) A 31-year-old daycare operator, Sarah E. Ellison, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for the alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy in late 2005 and early 2006.
Prosecutors said the victim attended middle school with Mrs. Ellison's stepson and stepdaughter and would spend time at their home after school. While the boy was visiting between November 2005 and June 2006, Mrs. Ellison and the boy touched each other in a sexual manner approximately 10 to 20 times, prosecutors said.

If convicted, Mrs. Ellison faces up to 15 years in federal prison.

Mrs. Ellson is the first woman to be charged under the banner of the state's Project Safe Childhood - a federal initiative that works with state and local authorities to combat the sexual exploitation of children.
Sarah Ellison is currently free and expected to surrender when she appears at a scheduled court date next week.
