NY Teacher Gets Prison for Drunk Driving

Free Image hosting by ImageSnap(Niagara County, New York) In September 2008, a 35-year-old former fourth-grade teacher at Roy B. Kelley Elementary School, Marcy Cole, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of driving while intoxicated, one in October 2007 and one in January 2008. Cole also had two prior convictions for DWI.
Cole has been in jail since early September, when Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza ordered her bail revoked. Probation officers had reported several incidents in which Cole was still drinking and causing disturbances while awaiting trial on what was originally an 11-count indictment.

Her guilty plea later that month satisfied all counts of the indictment.
Last week, Judge Sperrazza sentenced Marcy Cole to two terms of one to three years in prison, to be served concurrently.

Cole's attorney, Thomas Scirto, said she is on the road to recovery by having enrolled in several recovery programs. Cole was tearful and contrite during sentencing.
