Georgia Teacher Gets 5 Years for Sex with Boy

(LaGrange, Georgia) In May 2009, former cheerleading coach and teacher at Callaway Middle School Elizabeth Gaddy was indicted on charges of child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and aggravated child molestation stemming from an alleged relationship with a 13-year-old male student.

Yesterday, 46-year-old Gaddy pleaded guilty to child molestation in accordance with a plea agreement and was sentenced.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Monique Kirby said Gaddy received a 20-year sentence and will serve five years in jail.

Gaddy pleaded guilty to child molestation, and the other two charges were dropped as a result of the plea deal, Kirby said.

Gaddy also will have to register as a sex offender.

Sadly, 20-something years in the teaching profession are down the drain.

(Hogansville, Georgia) A 45-year-old former cheerleading coach and current 7th-grade teacher at Callaway Middle School, Elizabeth Gaddy, has been arrested by Troup County Sheriff's deputies for allegedly engaging in sex with a 13-year-old male student.

Gaddy has been charged with aggravated child molestation, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

The alleged victim's parents alerted school authorities in November regarding Gaddy's professional conduct.

The school launched an internal investigation, but at the time no allegations of sexual misconduct had been made to school officials.

A criminal investigation conducted by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office was prompted by direct complaints from parents.

That investigation led to the charges.

According to Sgt. Kelli Ellington, the alleged inappropriate sexual behavior did not occur on school grounds. Rather, Gaddy allegedly took the boy down dirt roads and to her home for indecent episodes.

Gaddy has been booked into custody at the Troup County Jail.
