Florida Teacher Allegedly Injures Student

(Fort Lauderdale, Florida) A 29-year-old substitute teacher with Broward County Schools, Lamika Watkins, has been arrested for allegedly pushing a student in the chest, sending him backwards into a television set and opening a small laceration.

Watkins has been charged with felony battery.
Police and school officials have not identified the student. The report states that he lives in Pompano Beach, which means he likely attends the school as part of its Montessori magnet program.

Andrew Feirstein, a district spokesman, said Watkins was temporarily removed from the active substitute teachers list after the incident.
Watkins reportedly admitted to the offense.

If I'm not mistaken, the child involved is very young if he is attending a Montessori program. Maybe teaching is too stressful of a career choice for Watkins.
