NY School Employee Accused of Child Sex Abuse

(Cayuga County, New York) A 31-year-old school monitor and coach for the Red Creek School District, Kelly Powers, was arrested Tuesday for the alleged sex abuse of a youth.

Powers has been charged with misdemeanor sexual abuse of a child under 14 in the second degree and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

The arrest stems from a report from the Cayuga County Child Protective Services in regard to incidents at both the victim's residence and on school property.

More charges against Powers may be forthcoming. Powers was arraigned in the town of Conquest.
